All Good Gifts Around Us... 09-06-2022
We had a good hard 30 minute rain on the 3rd. There was a huge puddle in the back yard over the bare spot. Yesterday, I noticed that hundreds of little sprouts were coming up all over back there. I am pretty sure it is my straggler daisy trying to make a comeback after the long hot and dry summer. I hope I am right. It is such an excellent low maintenance ground cover.
Look at all the green! Before the rain storm there was almost none. |
Here are the little sprouts. They are all over the back yard. These are actually growing in the bald spots of mud. |
There are thousands of rain lily shoots. Only a small percentage of them mature to have flowers. I don't know why. |
The Shrubby Copperleaf has little tiny blossoms on the tips. This is one of my pampered weeds. |
This is Scarlet Spiderling. It is another of my pampered weeds in the Wildzone. |
I like these pretty little flowers on the Pyramid Flower plant. Yep, another pampered weed. |

Look at that cutie playing peak-a-boo! |
I have lots of Tie Vines in bloom today. |

Miss Olive was enjoying herself in the sun. |
Then, this little monster jumped from the neighbor's tree to ours. |
She had to forget her lazy day and get to work guarding the yard from squirrels. |
The volunteer zinnias growing ridiculously tall in their tiny little pot. |
Okay... I love how these look. I learned that this is a highly invasive non-native from China called a Chinese Pistache. We have a male tree that doesn't have the berries near our patio. It was a volunteer and provides the only shade we have there. |
No wonder they are so invasive. The birds love the berries and pop them out all over the place. |
Look... It's a dog bird scratching a flea. No, it's a juvenile Cardinal. |
We won't have these pretty blossoms much longer this season. |
