Birds, Blooms, and Buzzes 09-18-2023

Now that my salvias are blooming again in the back of the house, I am seeing a few more bees.
My beautiful Chile Pequin tree is going to have a second crop. These tiny peppers are about the size of apple seeds right now.
I think this crop will be even bigger than the first one.
I have about 10 of these yuccas growing in the WildZone. The first one showed up in the lawn back when we had one, and I just mowed around it. Then, when I let the area go wild, we suddenly had a large cluster of them. I don't usually water them, but they were looking a little yellowish a few weeks ago, so I started giving them a drink every other day. Those rain lilies usually pop up after a rain storm. I guess I watered extra one evening and fooled them.
The biggest of my yuccas grows a huge flower stem every year. I never break it off until our February clean ups. This vine grows on it every year.
Some more rain lillies.
I wish I had watered this more heavily all summer long. I have learned for next year.
These things are mesmerizing. I can't stop looking at them or taking pictures.
This one looks like a cheerleader holding out her pompoms. Okay... I am crazy. I admit it.
I don't know what to think about the bulbine plants. This is the first blossom in weeks. I have watered it the same as every other year. I think the 100+ degree temperatures for so long got to them.
Miss Olive loves to lay right at the start of the WildZone and bask in the sun.
This is about the prettiest Cardinal I have seen lately. They are having a rough time this summer. Most of them look sickly.
This is a juvenile Cardinal. It looks pretty healthy.
The sparrows spend a lot of time up in the trees trying to cool down.
These vines have always grown on this side of the house and the privacy fence. I don't know what they are. I stopped trying to get rid of them, and now there aren't as many. I think pulling them up encourages growth.
These look different. iNaturalist wouldn't tell me what either of them are.
I love bees!
These were all on the salvias in the front of the house. I stood there for thirty minutes in the shade of the porch taking hundreds of shots. I am seriously addicted to bee photography. I wish I had a better camera.
This one looks a bit human. I said I was crazy.
I love this shot!
I just noticed that the salvias in front have white landing stripes on them.
This guy is way up in there!
This crazy bloom explosion happened over night. I think it is the lower temperatures.
I "hope" this plant keeps blooming. Did you see what I did there? hope=Esperanza
This was one tiny little wisp of crepe myrtle. It really caught my eye.
These guys are still doing well.
I don't remember what this plant is. It is a wide spreading vine-like weed in the WildZone that I think is pretty. It gets these microscopic red blossoms for about a week every summer.
These are all in the sage/salvia group. They only just started looking healthier. I thought we were going to lose them.
And this is our 8th visiting parakeet since October. It is a male, but is definitely not Woody. He is too blue.
After awhile, he was perched there starting at me. I thought it might be more tame than the others, but when I opened the door a little more, he flew off.
