Blooms, Birdies, and Bees... 01-07-2024

What a gorgeous day we had in San Antonio. I hope this beautiful weather holds out a little longer. When we put in our new $16,000 AC/Heat unit during the summer, we did not replace the zone system, as it is a totally independent part that was in proper working order. Well, since then the mother board has kicked the bucket. That meant that our heat only came on when it wanted to regardless of the settings on the thermostat. In other words, we haven't had heat so far this winter. They are coming on Wednesday to replace the zone system for $3,600! We may be poor, but we will be warm. I like this collection of pictures, even though some are a bit fuzzier than I'm aiming for.

Bulbine... We lost all but one stem during the Big Freeze. Rachel nurtured and replanted that stem and we now have two complete clusters of plants.
Chickweed again...
This is another teeny tiny plant called Shepherd's Purse. It is a weed in the backyard that I like so much I let it grow.
Ponk, orange, and red roses on the same plant!

This is the only rose like this. All the others are either red, orange, white, or pink.

iNaturalist says this is pigeonberry, but I have my doubts.
This is chickweed. These flowers are about the size of a baby aspirin. They are really pretty.
Blustery sky through the hackberry branches...
Mocking birds are my favorite.

Titmice are my favorite.

Orange-crowned warblers are my favorite.

Northern Cardinals are my favorite.

White-winged doves are my favorite.
