Calm Before the Storm... 08-22-2022
There is a storm front making its way toward us today. It is supposed to give us lots of rain. I'll believe it when I see it. There were a lot more birds at the feeders today. Maybe, they are prepping for the storm.
There were a lot of birds waiting for turns on the feeder. These are house sparrows. |
This titmouse was very active today. |
I saw several male house finches today. |
This guy looked so pretty sitting in the tree waiting his turn at the feeder. |
The blue jay visited twice, but stayed in the tree partially hidden both times. |
Flight control to Major Bird... |
I love the paler summer coloring on this Northern Cardinal. He is a handsome fella. |
We almost had a gang war! |
The birds devoured the seeds in this feeder really quickly. |
The squirrel visited today. He tried his best to evade Olive's eagle eye. |
It didn't work! Miss Olive held this position until the squirrel finally went back to the neighbor's yard. |
Senile old Vinny stood guard, too. However, I don't think he knew why. Bless his dear heart! |
There's the titmouse, at it again. |
This cardinal was the reddest of the day. |
Go home, Mr. Squirrel. MIss Olive needs a rest. |

Oh well... The volunteer plant had a second bloom. It is an Elegant Zinnia afterall. I guess I was camping when the other bloom had petals. |
This is another blossom on that carnation family plant in the PMP. iNaturalist insists it is a Sweet William, but I just don't buy that. |
Okay... I tried to get a photo of the darker orange blossoms, but there weren't any again today. This honey bee was really working the Pride of Barbados bus |
Such a pretty flower. The honey bee is a bonus. |
Time for my closeup, Mr. DeBaker. |
Another shot like yesterday's of the beautiful Salvia bloom. |
