Flying Friends 02-25-2023
Although it was kind of dreary and overcast outside, there were plenty of birds at the feeders. I saw several incidences of different species feeding together today. Yep... We are all friends here.
Rachel said, "Look at the little yellow birds!" All I saw were two little grey birds and a Cardinal. I grabbed the camera, and, only then did I see the yellow on these cute little Lesser Goldfinches. |
One of them left. But, you can see it flying back to the feeder in the lower right corner. |
I am not a rose fan. But, of all of the ones we have, I like these multi-color flowering ones the most. |
When it is overcast, you don't see the oily iridescence on these European Starlings. |
These Great-tailed Grackles can be very entertaining. |
Miss Olive was sniffing out the path of a squirrel. |
This is a shot of the naive little House Sparrow landing on the suet feeder. He thought the starling would share. Not a chance. He got run off. |
The spots look hand-painted. |
I need to research and find out why some have grey beaks. Most of them are yellow. |
This female Northern Cardinal seems to be very proud of herself. |
male House Finch |
female Ladder-backed Woodpecker |
I'm going to say this is a Chipping Sparrow. Correct me, if I am wrong. |
This female House Finch would not turn her face toward me! |
White-winged Doves |
This looks like the guy from yesterday. Now, he appears to be thinking, "HMMM. Where did this food come from?" |
Carolina ChickadeeL |
Let us eat seeds together on our perch... |
Starling Smackdown! |
Sparrows are much nicer to each other. |
The losers of the Smackdown have to clean up the bits that fell in the grass! |
Don't worry, Honey. He can't see us up here in the tree. |
Woody made several appearances today. He starred in two videos. In the second one (it isn't posted here), you can see me slowly open the sliding patio door to take his picture with my Canon. |
Even out of focus, he's a pretty bird. |
This is the prettiest male House Finch I have ever shot in my yard! |
This is an even better shot of him. |
