Get a room already! 08-04-2024

Well it ain't just the itsy bitsy spider that went up the water spout! I saw this male anole showing off his dewflap to his pretty little girlfriend right outside my front door window. By the time I got my camera, they were making babies! Sorry about the poor quality. The window was dirty and that little corner is shaded pretty good. I didn't want to open the door and interrupt their magic moment. The other shots are from the back yard.
These are anoles. They change colors, and are sometimes erroneously called chameleons. They do adjust for camouflage, but most of their color changes are related to light, temperature, stress, or mood.
These are green anoles (Anolis carolinensis). They are native to Texas. The Caribbean brown anoles have invaded Houston and are taking over. Last time I took my buddy Jim to Houston, I counted over 50 brown anoles in a bush outside our hotel.
This is white brush. What you are seeing is growing outside of my yard.
Last year, when they had gone to seed, I waved a few branches over the Wild Zone. This is one of my plants.
This is another of my Wild Zone white brushes. I may regret it, if they start to take over.
All that rain a few weeks ago paid off. This will be the third bloom of our crepe myrtle this summer. It has only bloomed once in early spring in the past few years.
Our breakout roses are the scraggliest looking things. I can't tell if I am over watering or under watering. Right now, they are showing a lot of new growth. They really need rain water.
