Gotcha! 08-28-2024

I finally got some good photos of that illusive Common Mestra. Unfortunately, I couldn't get a shot of his open wings. Next time! Anyway, this is a small offering of photos since I skipped the Botanical Gardens today. I just wasn't feeling it!
These are so pretty. When they open their wings, the top sides are white with a golden rim around them.

The clouds were really pretty today. The sky was actually bluer than it appears in the photos.
The pride of Barbados plants are all struggling. This is the little volunteer one. It's flowers are tiny.
The big one has gone to seed. The flowers are dying before they open. I just can't keep it watered enough.

This photo is here to show the esperanza. It is all the way up to the second floor windows.

I was planning to get a shot of these oregano blossoms. This little hairstreak decided to make an appearance.
Before anyone asks, we just grow the herbs for the insects. I occasionally pull a leaf or two for cooking.
The basil is really pretty right now.
Okay... The landscaper put this Mexican sage in. It was beautiful. Over the years, the heat and freezes really tried to kill it off. There was on little stem with one wilted leaf at the beginning of spring. I water it every day, and it is making a comeback.
