5H Haggard Ranch 09-23-2023
Today, I had the pleasure of going on the Alamo Area Master Naturalists Training Class 49 trip to visit the 5H Haggard Ranch in Atascosa, Texas to learn about efforts there to restore the Texas Blackland Prairie.

Getting to know everybody. The man in green is Clay Thompson of Green Spaces Alliances. The ladies are Mrs. Haggard and her daughter. That's Gary Rodgers from the training committee in the white shirt. The fellow in blue is Class 49 trainee Anthony Cantu. The guy with the stick is Milton Correia from class 47. |
This is one of the areas where they have cleared the land as a first step towards restoration. |
This is a skimmer, but I'm not sure which one. |

There are several oil pumps on the property. This one still produces when hooked up to electricity. |
These large piles of branches are left to create a wind barrier so that the soil doesn't blow away during the restoration. |
