HIW: Sanctuary 10-08-2023

I had the pleasure of accompanying AAMN Class 49 on their field trip to Headwaters at Incarnate Word today. Just like yesterday, the weather was perfect. I am exhausted and have a pair of sore feet. There were so many beautiful things to take pictures of, as well as some sad ones. The drought has really been harsh in the Sanctuary, especially for all the beautiful Hackberry Trees. Many of them have succumbed to a disease and had to be removed for safety reasons.

Please forgive me for not labeling these. I am so tired that my skin is crawling. I just want to get her done and go for a shower. If you have a question about a photo, count down and tell me the number.
I was a little concerned by all the missing trees. They were hackberries and had to be cut down.

This is a diseased and terminally ill hackberry.
When they get like that, they have to be cut down for the safety of the trails or the volunteer workers working in the wooded areas.
