Quick Shoot 06-15-2024

I went out to water the plants out back. Today is the scheduled day for it. None of them were stressing, so I gave them each a 10-second squirt. In the process, I saw a few things that gave me that feeling in my brain urging me to get the camera. I don't know how scientific that is. But, when they do my autopsy, tell them to look two inches deep in my brain about an inch above my left eye. That is where I feel whatever it is when I see something I need to take a picture of. It is sort of a vibration. Well... You already know I'm crazy.
I really love these wild flameflowers. We had a heavy rain about four days ago, and there are a lot of these right now.

These almost look the same. They are not. These beauties are the blossoms of a wild mallow. They don't seem to need water. Something is eating holes in most of the leaves this year. It is a larval host plant for common checkered-skipper (Pyrgus communis), mallow scrub-hairstreak (Strymon istapa) and tropical checkered-skipper (Pyrgus oileus) butterflies.
Tomorrow! Tomorrow! It's blooming tomorrow. At least, I think it will. Those yellow buds look ready to explode! This is my Lindheimer's Senna.
This is the first time the basil has bloomed this year.
The knockout roses are showing new growth even though they stopped blooming and a lot of the old growth looks stressed. I have issues with figuring out is we are over watering or under watering them every year.

The wind started up just as I was ready to take this shot. This is flame acanthus. We have two huge bushes of it. Only this one has bloomed.
Love these so much!
This shot shows the color variation. They turn deeper red as they age.
Then a seed pod suddenly grows out like a green bean.
