Something Different... 08-24-2024
I decided to attend a guided Ethnobotany hike at Phil Hardberger Park this morning. I learned a lot of new things. I carried my camera with me, but these pictures aren't as good as I thought they would be. You never know what you got until you see them on the computer. Anyway, they were worth posting to remember the event.
![]() This is Josie Gonzales. Any guided hike she leads is always amazing. She is very knowledgeable and has a wonderful and gentle way of sharing that knowledge. |

![]() They threw some of these cactus pads on the ground where people where making unwanted trails. I did not realize it was this simple to grow cactus. |
![]() These are beautiful art pieces. I had been told they were meant to be scarecrows, but learned today that they are meant to represent fire's relationship with prairies. |

![]() This is a horrible picture. I put it in because it shows you that wildlife, such as these deer, do survive in the heart of San Antonio. |

![]() I love mallow plants. I learned today that rock rose with its beautiful pink flowers is a variety of mallow. This is the kind that has yellow flowers, but is equally pretty. |
![]() This is the only one of 37 shots that turned out. I am disappointed because there were about twenty of these bees on this esperanza. It was a photographer's dream. I should have done a better job. |
