Summer Sizzle 07-27-2023
This is just a bunch of photos taken over the last week or so. I'll comment on a few of them.
NEWSFLASH: I didn't get a photo, but Woody made his first appearance in about two months today!!!
This was the first blossom on our little volunteer Pride of Barbados plant. |
For those of you not from Texas, the golden brown stuff the dogs are laying on is grass. I refuse to waste water on it. It goes dormant in the summer and comes back in the spring. It is a mix of native grasses and ground cover. |
I just love the Wildzone. |
When these bloom, they start at the bottom and move up. It is pretty interesting to see. The flowers are bright orange at first. Then they age to a darker orange. After that, they turn red just before shriveling up. |
These seed pods are all over the plant. We have several baby plants growing all over the place. |
This is the little plant a few days later. This one didn't bloom until it was two years old. |
There are always a bunch of these at the old bird bath. I think they are absolutely stunning. They never bother me. |
I harvested all the chiltepin peppers. They are really hot! Chiltepins have a SHU of 50,000-100,000. Jalapenos only fall in the range of 2,000 to 8,000!,000-100,000. |
Just missed him! |
I learned last year that birds keep their mouths open to help with the heat. It is like panting for dogs. |
